Alabama Pines
Sitting in the living room of my in-law’s gorgeous home in chilly Georgia and listening to Caleb singing with his guitar has to be the most perfect Christmas Eve. Only about an hour until the clock strikes midnight. The stockings are all perfectly hung on the fireplace with a little village of glistening homes underneath. The tree is sparkling in the corner and remnants of my nieces’ early holiday gifts can be spotted on the hardwood floors. No snow this year. Bummer. I shouldn’t complain. The cooler weather is such an improvement from the year-round south Florida weather that I’ve grown so accustomed to. Boots, scarves, and hot chocolate are all welcome here.
Sure, I haven’t been around this corner of cyber space since 2009. It’s okay. Stumbling back to my blog and skimming through my old posts just reminds me how lucky I am to be where I am today and how happy I am to have the family and friends that I do and who support me in everything. Skype is really such an incredible tool when you are away from family. Reading through my old posts also reminds me once more how much I love to write about my travels and dreams.
I tilt my glass of invisible eggnog and cheers to a Happy Christmas Eve! (especially to my little butterball – Simon.)
